Privacy Notice

A short, plain-language notice about the identity and anti-money-laundering check you are being asked to complete before buying from or selling to a dealer.

In one line: the law requires precious-metals and jewellery dealers to verify who they deal with. The dealer is collecting your details for that purpose, using Clarity. Your information goes only to the dealer and, where the law requires, to the authorities — never to marketing.

1Who is collecting your data

The dealer you are visiting (the shop or business) is the organisation responsible for your personal data. It uses Clarity, a platform operated by VERIDEX TECHNOLOGIES PTE. LTD. (Singapore), to run the check on its behalf. Clarity processes your data only for the dealer and does not use it for its own purposes.

2What we collect and why

To meet the law, the dealer collects: your name and identity-document details (for example NRIC, FIN, or passport), your contact details, address, and occupation, and — for larger or cash transactions — information about the source of your funds and a few anti-scam questions. We check your details against official sanctions and watch lists.

3The legal basis

Singapore — the Precious Stones and Precious Metals (Prevention of Money Laundering and Terrorism Financing) Act (PSPM Act), administered by the Ministry of Law.
Australia — the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Act 2006, administered by AUSTRAC.
Hong Kong — the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorist Financing Ordinance (Cap. 615), administered by Customs & Excise.

4Who sees it, and for how long

The dealer and its authorised staff.
Screening providers used to check official sanctions and watch lists.
The authorities, where the law requires a report to be made.

The dealer must keep these records for a minimum period set by law — 5 years in Singapore, and 7 years in Australia and Hong Kong — after which they are deleted or anonymised. Your details are not used for marketing and are not sold.

5Your rights

You can ask the dealer for access to the data it holds about you and ask it to correct anything wrong. Some rights are limited by anti-money-laundering law — in particular, records the dealer must keep by law cannot be deleted until the retention period ends, and the dealer cannot tell you whether a report about a transaction has been made.
